FAQ
No you don’t need to own a gun. If you don’t have one, just let us know, and we can arrange something for you. We can provide both gun, ammunition and instructor.
No. You can legally stand with someone with a shot gun certificate on the day. If you do have a license. Please let us know prior to booking and we can make all the necessary arrangements. If you’re borrowing one, make sure it’s being held by a responsible person with the necessary paperwork. Safety first!
Fibre-wad, light clay loads are perfect for a simulated game day, but if you’re unsure or need advice, just reach out. We’re happy to help! We recommend shot size 7, 8 or 9.
We recommend dressing for the countryside – sturdy walking shoes or boots are a must, as we’ll be out and about. Be prepared for the weather (you know, British weather!), You will be walking in long grass and crowing crops so make sure you’ve got some long pants with you. We have a limited stock of safety gear like safety glasses, ear protection, and a cap but please do bring your own. Pro tips: bring a glove for your left hand – guns get hot! Also think about a change of shoes for when it’s time for lunch!
We shoot on most Saturdays, but can shoot any day of the week except Sunday so pick the day that works best for you and come join the fun!
Of course! Who wouldn’t want to surprise someone with a day of simulated game shooting? Check out our gift voucher page and get them the perfect gift!
No, we have our own insurance. But we always recommend that you have your own insurance to support British shooting for the future. You can get insurance through one of the British shooting organisations.

Absolutely! We love having beginners join the fun. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure there’s an instructor to guide you for an extra fee. You can hire a gun if needed, and you’ll have all the help you need while you get the hang of things.
Great question! The main difference is that on a traditional shoot, you’re going for real game birds like pheasants and partridges. But on a simulated game day, we use clay pigeons as targets – it’s a bit like a game day, without the feathers! Another difference: on a traditional shoot, it’s bad form to shoot other people’s birds, but on a simulated day, we encourage it! Plus, there’s no limit to the number of targets you’ll face – you’ll have thousands of clays to shoot at all day long. Safety first but etiquette goes out the window!!!
It’s just like a traditional game day, but with clays instead of birds. We’ll take you through 5 drives with up to 10 pegs on the day. Each drive is broken into pairs of guns, so you’ll be sharing a stand with someone. You’ll take turns loading and shooting. After each drive, we’ll break for drinks, snacks, and a hearty lunch to fuel you up for the next round!
We shut throughout the shooting season – we have to concentrate on our feather friends. We highly recommend the Spring and Summer months for longer days and hopefully some nicer weather (though we can’t promise sunshine!). The Sim season typically starts in the Spring after the traditional game season ends, around February.
